    Out with the old

Andrea will turn three next month, and her interest in the world around us and why things are the way they are is increasing every day. One of the things she’s working on understanding is why mommy and daddy go to work and she goes to school (which is what we call day care).

Had this conversation the other day:

    Andrea: You go to work?

Me: Yes, daddy goes to work.

    A: Mommy go to work?

M: Yes, mommy goes to work, too.

    A: Andrea go to school?

M: Yes, Andrea goes to school.

A: Grandma go to work, too?

M: No, grandma is old, so she doesn’t have to go to work.

    _A: _ Grandma is old?

_M: _ Yes, grandma is old.

Andrea thinks for a little while.

_A: _ We need to get a new grandma.
